Silica fume, also known as microsilica, is a byproduct of the reduction of high-purity quartz with coal in electric furnaces in the production of silicon and ferrosilicon alloys. Silica Fume is also collected as a byproduct in the production of other silicon alloys such as ferrochromium, ferromanganese, ferromagnesium, and calcium silicon (ACI Comm. 226 1987b). Before the mid-1970s, nearly all Silica Fume was discharged into the atmosphere. After environmental concerns necessitated the collection and landfilling of Silica Fume, it became economically justified to use Silica Fume in various applications.

Silica Fume consists of very fine vitreous particles with a surface area ranging from 60,000 to 150,000 ft^2/lb or 13,000 to 30,000 m^2/kg when measured by nitrogen absorption techniques, with particles approximately 100 times smaller than the average cement particle. Because of its extreme fineness and high silica content, Silica Fume is a highly effective pozzolanic material (ACI Comm. 226 1987b; Luther 1990). Silica Fume is used in concrete to improve its properties. It has been found that Silica Fume improves compressive strength, bond strength, and abrasion resistance; reduces permeability; and therefore helps in protecting reinforcing steel from corrosion.
Specifications

The first national standard for use of Silica Fume ("microsilica") in concrete was adopted by AASHTO in 1990 (AASHTO Designation M 307-90). The AASHTO and ASTM C 1240 covers microsilica for use as a mineral admixture in PCC and mortar to fill small voids and in cases in which pozzolanic action is desired. It provides the chemical and physical requirements, specific acceptance tests, and packaging and package marking.

Usage:

Application Guidelines:

Clean the surface to be applied with clean potable tap water, & allow the surface to dry out.
The surface has to be free from any Dust, Dirt, Grease, oil, etc.
Take the material in a Bucket or in a Paint pan depending upon the method of application.
Apply either by brush or a Roller with uniform strokes to achieve a uniform sealed look on the concrete surface.
Allow the first coat to dry for a minimum of 4 to 5 hours before applying the second coat.
Avoid full traffic and vehicular traffic until the second coat has dried thoroughly well, at least a minimum of 24 Hours post application of the sealer.
When applying the sealer in outdoors, do not apply if rain, fog, or extremely.
High humidity is expected within 6-8 hours of application, or if freezing.
Temperatures could occur within 24 hours. Do not apply the sealer to any Surface if the temperature of the surface and the air is under 10Cent or Over 38Centigrade. Cool ambient and surface temperatures will affect the drying time of the sealer.

Lignosulphonate has the action of reduction of water, increased, retardation, etc. In line with the first-class normal water-reducing national standard GB8076-1997, used in water conservancy, port, transport, industrial and civil buildings, such as cast-in-situ or precast concrete. You can save cement, but improve the performance of concrete construction, reduce cement early hydration heat and improve the quality of concrete. When you use our product, we recommend dosage 0.25% -0.35% to cement.

Lignosulphonate not only can be used as ordinary water reducer directly used in concrete, but also can mix with highly-efficient water reducer, such as Naphthalene, Melamine, for raw materials to produce set-retarding and water-reducing admixture water reducer, setretarder of pumping aid.
