RAYS visibility sensors are Infra Red based back scatter sensors used in combination with the adjustable reflective surface. The attenuated beam is collected with the help of the optics and measured levels are given in the output as potential free relay contacts. The visibility sensor detects the dust, fog, thick smoke and mist particles.

When the back scattered waves blocks by any opaque medium the sensing LED stops working and giving an Indication to the user that the sensor is blocked by opaque medium.

The adjustable threshold levels are adjusted named as GOOD, FAIR and POOR.

The GOOD is adjusted with the attenuated level reception above 75% and FAIR is adjusted with the level of 40% to 75% and POOR is adjusted with the level below 40% level of the waves received at the receiving end.

Visibility sensors are used at airports, roads, harbours, tunnels and in various types of automatic weather stations.
